Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all our family and relations.

Paper Genocide (Lament of the Disenrolled Indian)
I'd like to present a song, written by my cousin, that expresses the sad situation of paper genocide practiced by Pechanga and other tribes in California.

A PAPER GENOCIDE (LAMENT OF THE DISENROLLED INDIAN) WORDS BY 'AMMOKAT: To the tune of Indian Reservation, originally by Paul Revere and the Raiders

WE WERE ONE INDIAN NATION
WHEN THEY PUT US ON OUR RESERVATION
WE WERE AT ONE WITH THE LAND
MADE OUR HOMES WHEN THERE WAS ONLY SAND

WE WERE ONE LAND WE WERE ONE TRIBE
NO CASINO JUST NATIVE PRIDE
BUT SOME OF OUR FRIENDS WE HAD FOR YEARS
CAUSED A PAPER TRAIL OF TEARS

CASINO PEOPLE
SHAMEFUL TRIBE
BETRAYED YOUR OWN
A PAPER GENOCIDE

JUST A FEW YEARS AGO
WE WERE ALL UNITED IN A COMMON GOAL
TO PAVE A WAY TO A BETTER LIFE
BUT OUR SUCCESS IT BROUGHT STRIFE

CASINO PEOPLE
SHAMEFUL TRIBE
DESTROYED YOUR OWN
A PAPER GENOCIDE

MAYBE SOMEDAY WHEN THEY'VE LEARNED
THEN THEIR PEOPLE WILL RETURN
WILL RETURN
WILL RETURN
WILL RETURN
WILL RETURN

Thanks for posting this again but where are the divisions to the parts of the song?

As there are seperate sections of the song that make it easier to read.

Also, I had misspelled the name 'aamokat in the title section when it was originally posted on OP's blog.

By the way, 'ammokat means Hunter in Luiseno.

Hello, disenrollees. Wake up and get a life. A new year faces you. Make the most of it. To start on the right foot, abandon your futile fantasy of reversing the decision to disenroll you. This reversal will never happen. Then set yourself in a useful direction to enrich your life. But doing so demands that you first end your personal negativity toward others. After all, you cannot gain satisfaction and happiness in your daily life when your awareness harbors anger, bitterness, and disappointment. These feelings will sour your mind, and drag you down. Instead, try keeping a positive outlook while seeing the best in others. Doing so will act like a tonic in your consciousness. Finally, put the past behind you. Accept your status as a privileged American. Look afresh at your existence. Welcome the bright future ahead.

Anonymous, Thank you for the word of encouragement. We are and always have made the most of it. We as a family have always known the facts, some thing you continue to ignore. We as a family have always been on a useful direction and have very enriched lives. The personal negativity you refer to comes from your inner being. We have no personal negativity toward Pechanga as a whole. The negativity you feel is for the small faction of the tribe (CPP) Corrupt Pechanga People. Our family has always had satisfaction and happiness in our daily lives. You on the other hand carry an overwhelming burden, and we feel sorry for you. The lust for Money and Power has consumed you. You never had enough and will struggle with this for the rest of your days. We have a very bright future, and we hope you will accept the same.

P.S. Don’t be so sure of your position. Your ship may be sinking instead of setting sail.

To Anonymous of Decemeber 31, 2008, 6:25 PM, why do some of you keep coming here if it is over and what we say is not a threat to your ill gotten gains?

Because if what we say isn't true, than you have nothing to worry about.

Conversely, if what we say is true then some of you have a lot to worry about and as werone said, "don't be so sure of your position. Your ship may be sinking instead of setting sail."

I have a suggestion, most of you focus on negative feelings and posts aimed at the tribe as a whole, when I think you should really focus on the individuals who are to blame. My suggestion is that you tell who actually did the wrongful acts. This would allow you to still speak positively about the tribe, but name those that are to blame. Maybe by doing this you can gain support from additional tribal members, and shape tribal election; that is if some tribal members read these sites.

To me it seems that most of the problems have been caused by Frances Miranda, and the Masiel/Basquez family. There have been so many people saying that they shouldn't be part of the tribe. Personally, I would like to see an article that details this. I have looked at a lot of the old records and I can't see how the Masiel family is connected to the Garcia family, plus I have heard that Ruth Masiel was adopted herself.

Additionally, there is a position on the council available, and I am sure that someone in the Masiel family will run, maybe another article will hurt their chances of winning.

I know tribal members are probably offended by my song words but consider that with a few exceptions, the overwhelming majority of current tribal members have done absolutely nothing on our behalf, even those who know the facts on what has happened to us and how unfair it was.

If good people turn a blind eye to injustice, dosen't that also make them responsible by them keeping silent?

If you read our other blog, then you probably have read my encounter with a tribal elder who I hadn't seen since our disenrollment.

He agreed with me that it was wrong what happened to us but that he didn't get involved in such things.

That pretty much sums up what we are up against and that isn't just the people who perpetrated what was done to us.

But I did a piece on our other blog about the Masiels so maybe I could put something together about them again.

I would rather do a new piece rather than having the old one reposted as there are some things I would like to change.
